Prayer Ministry
A prayerful way to approach
inner healing
Meet Our Counselors
Rod Myklebust has shared the last 35 years of his life with God’s daughter, Nancy
and feels so blessed to have done so. She is the person he loves to be around and spend
most of his time with. Their two boys have taught him how to live better and to be
more Christ like. They are the best of Nancy and Rod combined, and Papa God put His
own special ingredients in to each of them. His two daughters in law are truly the
daughters he has always hoped for as his son’s wives: loving, kind, thoughtful, sweet
and honest Jesus followers. His one granddaughter shows him daily the essence of
Papa God’s love, warmth, and heart. She is more wonderful than he could have hoped
or dreamed for.
Rod has always been motivated by helping others. In first grade, he remembers being
on the playground comforting kids who felt out of place. Befriending the underdog, the hurting, the rejected, the out of place kids who needed a caring heart to witness love to them. Rod points to his dear sweet mom as a compassionate soul and a dedicated, giving, loving dad who gave him encouragement and strength to carry on in life.
Rod attended University of Idaho and studied Distributive Education in order to teach High School classes. In 1976, at age 22 Rod decided to follow his passion for clothing and people and created Myklebust’s Clothing in Lewiston, Idaho. It became a familiar and trusted name in the area. Rod flourished in the clothing business because he could care for people with their emotional and spiritual needs as they sought after their clothing.
Ten days before the store opened in 1976 while buying merchandise for the new store, Rod felt an unquestionable and powerful call from God to be a “counselor” for God to bring healing to His children. Years later, in 1983, Rod met Nancy and answered the call to counseling in several unique ways. First serving with Nancy as leaders with engaged couples in small groups and in a protestant version of “Engaged Encounter”. He also began leading Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, taught Sunday School and served in leadership in other ways at First Presbyterian Church in Clarkston before moving to New Bridges Community Church.
For ten years, alongside Nancy, Rod arranged and led Family Life Home Builders groups. They both “life coached” many couples, training them up in their marriages. Dennis and Barbara Rainey of Family Life, wanted to expand their Family Life Marriage Conferences to the Spokane and Coeur d’ Alene area. Rod and Nancy eagerly accepted training to be City Ministry Directors for Moscow, Pullman, Lewiston, and Clarkston. That started a ten year journey volunteering as staff to help build the conferences. Ultimately, Rod felt called to seek out more extensive education and training to help people heal.
“I am God’s child washed to righteousness with Jesus Christ and filled with the purposeful hope of the Holy Spirit.”

Nancy Myklebust has been married to Rod since 1983. He is her absolute favorite person to spend time with. They have two fantastic sons, two lovely daughters-in law, one amazing granddaughter and three children held by Jesus in heaven. She has a lovely, fun, talented, loving family whom she loves to be around both one on one, and all together. You can catch them laughing, learning, debating, singing, swimming, playing, sharing life and sharing hearts.
Nancy has a heart for music, which includes singing, but also listening. She lets her passion for singing shine through when she worships the Lord. One of her other favorite things to do is spend time outdoors going for walks, and still allows herself the room to love traveling, the Oregon Coast being one of her favorite places.
For Nancy, the calling in to ministry really began when she was a small child in Sunday School. Jesus spoke to her heart through a painting of “The Good Shepherd.” She was drawn to Him, and by the age of 13, had prayed the salvation prayer with a college-aged reading tutor, and her journey began. At such a young age, she had felt the calling, but did not have the maturity or discipleship to understand what a calling to ministry meant. After an introduction to Rod at the age of 23, they connected “heart to heart” and were married a year and a half later. Within the first year of marriage, Nancy first began serving in ministry to engaged couples and in worship music ministry at church.
In 1991, in a three night experience of being awakened through dreams and visions led by the Holy Spirit, she heard God calling her heart to the wounded hearts around her. She said “Here I am Lord. I will go where you lead me.” He led her to Post Abortion Healing and Recovery for her own abortion pain. This led to the calling into leadership of Post Abortion Healing Ministry. For 25 years and in to the present she has led Post Abortion recovery weekends and has done individual counseling in this area.
In 2002, God introduced Nancy and Rod to John & Paula Sandford and inner healing through their own experience through prayer ministry. They then felt a strong calling in to Prayer Ministry themselves through Elijah House School of Prayer Ministry and the Sandfords.
Her favorite part of being a prayer counselor is serving our living God who speaks to her heart and the hearts of those she counsels; helping to set them free from bondage to pain, loss, sin, shame, and grief. She delights in helping to bring the truth of the cross to wounded hearts and helping Jesus set the captives free.
“I get to see lives transformed, hearts healed, addictive behaviors stopped, marriages restored, families reconciled.
It’s a great joy.”
